Choice: Public Domain Ramayana. I'm choosing the public domain Ramayana for this course! It is free, which is a huge plus, but I also like how it is very laid out and accessible. I'm sure that word search and Professor Gibbs' comments will be a big help throughout the semester.
Comic book choices: The Lord of Lanka: Rise and Fall of a Demon King. Great title, right off the bat. I love a good antagonist, and I'm excited to learn more about the Lord of Lanka. You don't get a moniker like the "Demon King" without being particularly evil, and I look forward to reading about the exploits of Ravana. Kumbhakarna: Demon King has a brother? And he's giant? I'm in. Looks like he fights gods too; this comic sounds like a very interesting read.
Video choices: Harry Potter Music (Indian Version) I love the Harry Potter books and music, and I'm a big fan of the John Williams score. I got to listen to some live Indian music when I visited India last December– I'm listening to the fusion right now, and I enjoy it a lot! Mahabharata meets Game of Thrones. I've read the Song of Ice and Fire books and watched the TV show, and I always like learning about something new in the context of something I'm familiar with. I'm looking forward to being able to grasp the parallels between the characters of Game of Thrones and the Mahabharata.
