Reading notes: Ramayana B

I'm growing more attached to writing a story about Rama and Sita with a romantic comedy theme, especially after seeing a bunch of online pictures of them together. They're just a great couple. And the odds of finding someone who just happens to be a god avatar and royalty? Very low for sure. I will likely be looking for material that will help me write my romantic comedy story, but I'll keep an open mind.

Bharata is an interesting refocus of the story– could make a good secondary protagonist.  The funeral scene was an excellent contained story. It really felt like a sorrowful moment for Dasharatha's kingdom, and it really makes you hope for the return of Rama– again this just highlights how strong a "chosen one" type protagonist Rama is. The funeral scene also has many cultural elements I'd like to explore– it could make for a great individual story.

Still loving Bharata– it is interesting that he is the focus of the story now, even though he is clearly not the chosen one like Rama is.

Sita's birth is a fascinating story and could provide some fun background for the romantic comedy story.

Debating on whether to choose Viradha or Ravana as the antagonist of the story. I think I will go with Ravana, as he is the more threatening character, but Viradha's strange immunity to weapons makes for an interesting confrontation.

Rama's encounter with Shurpanakha is a strange one, but her connection to Ravana is an interesting one, but it could serve to crowd the story with too many characters.

The story about Ravana's attempt to get Sita will serve as a great climax to the story.
